What BGNinja does

Against remove.bg: their free tier caps you at low resolution and counts your images; here full resolution is free without an account. The difference the other way: remove.bg's model is trained on more data and wins on some very fine hair. Try both on a hard photo and keep the better cut-out.

What happens to your photo in BGNinja

To remove background from image files such as a product shot, drop the JPG, PNG or WebP on the page. With no account and no watermark, you can delete background free for up to ten images a day. To remove bg from picture files one after another, drop up to three at a time. When you remove image bg from a logo, zoom in on the corners and thin lines, and use the restore brush for anything the AI trimmed too eagerly.

What to expect from BGNinja

Clear subjects (people, products, animals) on reasonably distinct backgrounds cut out very cleanly. Fine hair, glass and fog are hard for every tool: that's what the manual restore brush is for. Magic erase is best on small-to-medium objects; removing half the scene will show. Magic erase can delete image background clutter such as a cable or a sign without touching the subject. By hand with a lasso, removing background areas is slow work, so let the AI do the first pass and keep the brushes for the last few edges. In colours close to the subject's, a busy image background is the hardest case for any tool, so shoot against a plain wall or sheet when you can.

Background changer, the proper way

Want to change the background instead of leaving it transparent? That is two steps here, not one. We cut the subject out and hand you a transparent PNG; you place it on whatever backdrop you want. We deliberately do not generate a backdrop for you, because an invented scene behind a real subject almost always reads as invented: the lighting and the edge direction do not agree. White for a marketplace listing, a flat colour for a slide, a photograph for a poster: it is the same cut-out file in all three cases.

What you get back is a full-resolution transparent PNG with the same pixel dimensions as the JPG or PNG you put in. Free use is ten images a day, three at a time, with no account and no card. A pass raises that daily number; it does not buy a better cut-out, because the edge you get is identical either way. One thing it will not do: if you need the subject as a vector rather than a bitmap, tracing a photo cut-out to SVG gives you flat shapes, not a cleaner edge.

To change photo background colours for a slide or a listing, place the transparent PNG on a flat colour in any editor. Watch the light: a photo background change looks fake when the light on the subject and the light in the new scene come from different sides, so pick a backdrop lit from the same direction. When you change background photo by photo for one product line, reuse the same backdrop so the whole set matches. Pick a bg image at least as large as the cut-out, otherwise you scale it up and it looks soft.
